Hey all. I was doing some casual work a few weeks back and as I have never been paid through the proper legal way before(cash in hand etc etc), so I was taxed emergency tax.. in around 42% I think.. Iv been told i can claim this back! I am no longer working with them but i am still owed my last payment due the end of this month.. do i have to get a p45 or whats the story...

I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff!! any help is much appreciated!! :D

Okay first of all emergency tax is calculated at different rates depending on how long you have been on it, its only after 9weeks of employment that you start to pay everything at 41%...You would have noticed a change in wages after the first 4 weeks and then after week 8...

You should receive your P45 after your final payment has been processed through the payroll, you should make sure they have your correct address so you will definetly receive it....

As you have stated you have been paying emergency tax throughout your emplyment with them, once you recieve your P45, contact the Revenue office 1890333425 with your PPS number and tell them you have been on emergency tax and have finished employment and want to claim it back and they will advise you with what to do....

    Hope this helps!
