How confusing would this be...

Other Half just got an iphone 4 to replace a 3gs. She's not sure that she'll like it. I have a 3gs. She may want to swap. We're on the same network.

Network supplied her with microSIM so that'll be enough to get her set up, I'm sure. If after a week or so she decides that she'd like to swap with me, how much confusion will that be? I know I'll have to get a microSIM, and she'll have to get a replacement ordinary SIM (the network might be annoyed?).

More confusingly, is there an easy way of transferring my phone's setup (e.g. contacts, email settings, text messages, apps etc) onto the iphone4 and effectively wiping it for her to restart on, and vice-versa?

    Thanks in headmeltedness,

    Pren.

Yeah just sync the iPhone 4 with ur iTunes account and then sync the 3GS with the missus' account

network wont give a sh1t either, all you do is get blank sim cards and do a sim swap.

That didn't occur to me because we've both been using the same iTunes a/c up till now... we figure it was easier to do that using the same pc as she doesn't have a huge grá for buying music etc.

well then its a little different, ya could sync with a gmail email account for the contacts but email would prob have to be set up again

Actually, yeah, why don't I just sync both phones with the itunes? Only thing you say that'll be funny is email settings and setting that up on one of the devices isn't that much of a chore, and contacts is probably similar given that she's lost lots of her contacts anyway with loss of 3gs...

Just buy a micro sim adapter like this

    http://microsim-shop.com/

It allows you to use a microsim in any non microsim device

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

Yeah what you should do is as follows:
    • Go to your network and Tell them you want to port your number to a microsim, and your OH's number from a microsim to a regular sim.

    • Connect your iPhone to iTunes and let it do a full sync/backup. When it finishes, do the same with the missus's. Make sure to name each backup differently so you don't confuse them!

    • Restore your phone. When it asks if you want to set up as a new phone or restore from backup, choose to restore from the backup of your OH's phone. Then do the same with hers.

    • Enjoy your iPhone 4!!
