Had forgotten about that. Its not really part of the charter as such but fell under the "resources" end of things. It was bk who had copied my original list from a couple of years ago and posted it there.

As I said above I updated it all so if you compare the 2 there are quite a few changes.

If the mods consider the above list to be a duplicate then it can be removed so if its causing a problem for any of you.

Well this should probably be stickied anyway

I think better to just update the changes to the post in resources thread than making another sticky.

Aye, you could copy and paste the revised list above and maybe let this one one float around for a while as Im sure some people might get more benefit out of it here for a few days.

It will die off soon enough in any event.

You should put a notice besides play.com that their "free" P&P isn't free at all as us euro users must pay a surcharge in play's swindling "exchange rate"

If your ordering from Play dont leave it till the last minute, I ordered games days before the XMas deadline (from the store not resellers) and got caught the last two years, pretty pissed when its santa stuff that couldnt wait.

Use GamesTracker, a dedicated game price comparison site. I have watchlist and alerts set up on it, very handy.

    http://www.gamestracker.com/

Edit: It just compares the UK sites so don't forget Canada's Video Games Plus and Play Asia.

Didnt know myself up till a few weeks ago. The site does say free delivery to the UK but I contacted them and asked about delivery to here and they confirmed it was free. In saying that they are a Danish outfit and I got the impression that they thought Ireland was part of the UK.

In fact I placed my first order with them last night (Black Ops) and its showing up as having been dispatched.

The OH bought a game on CDWow but got caught for VAT on the way in.

Is it possible to identify on the list of sites above if goods are coming from outside the EU and therefore may be stopped by customs?

A few of the retailers are based in Jersey and Im not even sure what the story about VAT is there. Amazon for example will add an additional 3.5% VAT to items being shipped here to cover the difference in the rates between the UK and Ireland - ie. 17.5% - 21.0%. However they are the only retailer to do this that I'm aware of.

I might send off a few emails and update the list above if necessary.

Muffler, it might be a good idea to edit your original post to include www.shopireland.ie

This is the Irish version of amazon and gives the Euro prices inclusive of the Irish VAT. VERY VERY handy as it saves you adding to cart on amazon.co.uk to see the true price.

Good idea Hogzy. I cant edit the post now myself but I'll PM one of the mod and ask.

Also a handy tool is InvisibleHand add on.
can't remember if it factors in the delivery cost or not, but it's handy none the less :)

Great to have as many choices as possible, but never really found any wii games on here cheap enough, but I think their 360/PS3 games are better value and asgood as some other sites mentioned. Not sure Wii owners are priority there though, one of their "Latest Arrivals" is Zelda Twilight Princess.

It's in the latest arrivals as it is a new sku added at a clearance price from the distributors. :) We also have Super Mario Galaxy 2 at €39.99 which is a very good price for an Xmas present.

Our prices include VAT @ 21% as we are based in and shipping from Ireland which can make us unfavourable at first glance with the bigger jersey based sites. Of course if your package is stopped on the way in for VAT and handling fees etc then we work out an awful lot cheaper.

It's not that we don't prioritise Wii games more like there is a lot less demand for them versus PS3 / Xbox and we are stocked accordingly. If there's any Wii game not on the site that people want drop me a PM and we will do our best to source it.

They dont charge for delivery unless the T & C's have changed in the last couple of weeks. I ordered items from Sendit on Nov. 19 and from Asda on Nov. 21 and there was no charge for delivery.

Yes, on their site it does say that they charge but in reality they dont.

i think it has changed in the last week or so and they are charging now according to other peoples posts on here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,547 ✭✭✭✭muffler

Something I only discovered when shopping on the Amazon site. You can have the prices in the shopping basket displayed in Euro when checking out by using the Amazon Currency Converter. which is the EXACT AMOUNT you will be charged.

Very handy as you know exactly what the items will cost and still time enough to cancel if they look too expensive after the currency has been converted.

Just checked that and you are indeed correct. Its 99p extra now for P & P.

Perhaps Davy could edit my OP accordingly
