At the risk of being ridiculed by the more knowledgeable of you, which memory card is compatible with a Nikon D90? I currently use a SanDisk Extreme III 4GB SDHC thingy but was wondering if I have to stick to this or can I purchase something else?

I'm looking for an 8GB or 16GB card. Apologies for being so dim and thanks in advance for any replies I might receive... :o

You can use pretty much any SDHC card and you'll be fine (up to 32gig in size anyway!)

are some SDHC cards better than others for read/write to a digital camera or does it make a difference?

It all depends on your usage really, if you're looking to motor drive and get lots of shots in at once, you could do with a high speed, for more casual usage, any one will do just fine

A Class 10 SDHC card would be best for shooting video.

Thanks for all your responses so far, guys. Just to clarify, I won't be shooting video but I will be using the motor drive from time to time.

Personaly I use a 16GB Sandisk Extreme III 30MB/s. Very fast, especially when downloading to the computer, but with the buffer size in a D90 you'll rarely need all that speed when shooting.
Pretty much any SD/SDHC card will work but stay away from the cheap, no brand cards. I've had two fail on me before and lost some pics as a result.
