IPhone 3GS auto time setting to 3 hours early

I just got a replacement iPhone yesterday from apple after my original one stopped working. This morning I woke up to see that it had defaulted overnight to 3 hours behind ie at 7am it was showing 4am on Sunday Nov 7th. I turned off the auto and set it manually. Has anyone had that problem before? It's ridiculous!

Afaik it's the network that set the time when it's set to auto

It happened to me after I used google sync, so maybe that an effect.
