I bought a Bush lcd tv and i need a surround sound system for it. I was wondering did i have to buy a Bush surround sound system to match the tv but a guy told me that any surround system will work as long as i hook it up with a HDMI cable.
I seen a LG surround system that i wanted but it does not have a HDMI connection on it just a scart lead.
Will this still work with my tv????
And will it work when watching a dvd and still work when watching normal tv.
greatly appreciate if anyone can help me with this.
    Thanks

    Hi,

Sorry I'm no expert on this but I'll answer the first question, you dont need the surround sound system to match the tv

One piece of advice I'd have is make sure it has an optical input (PS3 has a surround sound optical output)

Not sure about the tv stuff though sorry.

    Hi Smokey32,

For a really accurate reply you could post the model of the LG surround system you are looking at and someone may have the same unit.

If it is an 'all in one' dvd surround system the normal way the work is that the DVD will output the sound through the surround system but in order to get the TV from our Cable or Satelite you would normally connect a Digital Audio output from your TV to a Digital Audio in on the Surround Sound system. You would need to check that there are compatible outputs and inputs on the TV and Sound system.

The other option is to purchase an AV receiver where all your components can be connected to the AV receiver and then all sound will be output from the surround sound system, you would have to purchase separate speaker though.

Check the specs of the LG surround sound system though as some of the new ones have some similar inputs to an AV Receiver where you can connect Satelite or Cable boxes directly to the surround sound unit.

    Hope this helps.

    Barry.
