I have a HP laptop, and it 'crashed' earlier, screen went blue with loads of messages flashing up, something about crash dump.
Then after running stuff it told me to install operating system on hard drive.
    What's that all about.
I rebooted it and it loads and worked for a little while and then crashed again.
    HELP?!?!?!?

Your Boot sector could be corrupted if you have your recovery cd or a windows cd boot from that and it can repair it for you

Be warned recovery cd/dvd from the manufacturer will nearly always erase the information on the drive.

I've just gone through the box I keep all the 'bits' that came with the laptop, and there is no disc.
The thing is, it's working now again, as in I'm using it right now! I've probably jinxed it again!!

I would also seriously consider backing up any critical data you have on the device.

Ok. It's gone again, so can't back anything up right now.
