If they were originally what was on the car when new I would go with those as the manufacturer will have spend millions on testing to see what tyres work best with the car.

Slightly better handling op. Try 205`s. Never thought a Yaris driver would be talking about road holding..:D:D.

    Sorry now op..:)

Roadholding is about all tbh. Its not going to improve economy. Tyre pressures will judge that.

A few simple rules-of thumb regarding tyre and wheel sizes :

The greater the tyre width in mms (185 / 195 / 205 in this case) for the same wheel size (15 inch in this case) :
    • the better the grip will be in the dry (more physical rubber on the road)
    • the worse the grip in the wet (more water to moved and not necessarily more grooves & sipes to do the work)
    • the greater the rolling resistance therefore
    • the higher the fuel consumption and
    • the heavier will non-power assisted steering become at low speeds
    • the greater the probability of the tyres fouling the bodywork / suspension at full lock.

As tyre width increases, in order to maintain the integrity of the speedo and odometer, so must the aspect ratio of the tyre / wheel combination decrease - this means less rubber between the wheel and the road, the stiffer the side-wall becomes and the less comfortable does the car become on rough roads. In our example if we start off with a 185/60 15 then this becomes (for example) 195/55 15 or 205/50 15.

195/50 r15's is what all the yaris boys/girls upgrade to as anything wider etc will only foul the arches. have a look at www.yarisclubuk.com/forum

which will knock the speedo / odo measurements out by almost 5% and will also effect fuel consumption figures as the gear-box final-drive ratio will be compromised.
