    Hello folks,

Considering a block and beam suspended floor, that would ldeally span 6m between external walls. Is it possible to get 6m beams?

    Cheers,
    Niall

Yes, the beams are designed to order for those lengths. We can't discuss the design of structural elements here so you had best contact the manufacturers regarding specific designs and spans, etc.

With these spans precast hollow core slabs with a structural screed would probably be just as cheap unless there is an issue with access for lorry and crane.

It might be worthwhile getting a quote for these from one of the many manufacturers - they wiill often do the structural design also in their price.

Thinking of using block and beam on ground floor, as it would be easier to get the sevices through.

Is it possible to have the hollow core people leave service voids in the slabs where pipes, etc., would be passing through the floor, or would these have to be cored after?

Yes it is, you just need to be fairly exact. I had to do out a plan only last week for opes in floor slabs for this exact purpose for a particular job.
