Hi all, we have begun process of planning our new build in Tipp North area. Have already designed the house on Sketchup (hubbie is Engineer so familiar with basic requirements etc). We would need a set of drawings that could be submitted to planning dept for planning. Any reccommendations/advice gratefully received ! I presume by PM ?(nod to mods)

    Yes, recommendations by PM please.

I'm curious as to what you mean by a Certified Arch Technician, Certified by what body? Do you have a specific requirement for an RIAI Tech? or a CIAT Member? or perhapse an RIBA Technician Member?

Hi Uncle Tom, you'll have to excuse my ignorance, I was under the impression that in order to submit plans suitable for pp that there was one specific qualification required ? didnt realise there were several types of certification. Any clarification would help!!

    No, there isn't, I'm afraid.

You could go onto the council's gplan and check out any recent planning applications near your area and see who was the agent for those, (who did the drawings or submitted the applications) you could then ring some of those for a quotation.

You don't have to be affilated with any organisation to submit plans, an independant Architectural technician would be fine.

I really have to agree with having a look on the council's site, pick a hand ful of applications, see which names appear (possible repeatedly), check out the quality of the work. plus, you'll get an automatic reference list.
