I see that...they mentioned international candidates in that too- http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1109/rte-business.html. I've no view on Noel Curran. I read that he has extensive experience in the Irish media and independent production sector aswell as journalistic and editorial experience. Programming certainly was improved last few years compared to under Bob Collins tenure.

Cathal Goan was immensely talented and did alot for RTÉ and TG4. Hard act to follow. Will be Noel Curran's baby the DTT project from February.

Sunday August 29 2010, Indo had him as favourite as DG http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/noel-curran-2316038.html

Noel Curran joined RTÉ's Executive as Managing Director of Television in 2003, and was the longest-serving managing director of RTÉ's Television division by March 2010 when he left RTÉ to pursue a consultancy and other private business interests.

Having only left RTÉ six months ago after 7 years as Managing Director of Television and member of the RTÉ Executive Board he will be fully up to speed on all things DTT.

The competition for the position of DG was previously discussed over in the Broadcasting Forum.

Indeed it was, and discussion can continue there.
