Being "paired" up???

Myself and the bro enjoy the occasional round of golf. Its fair to say we are both brutal!!! We both got vouchers for a particular club. The problem is everytime we go to book a round of golf there they want to pair us up with other people i.e. a four ball

I have no interest in this and actually find it very off putting for a number of reasaons

    1) as said i'm brutal dont want to make a show of myself in front of other

2)we'd be just slowing them down

3)Have no interest in making idle chit chat with other people for 18 holes.

Is it possible to tell the club not to pair us up, although they have already done this via email or when we get to the 1st tee can we tell the others to play on and we'll play behind them ( and possibly let a number of others play through :p) or that not allowed

Not wanting to talk or have the craic with 2 new people for 18 holes makes you sound like a rite rear cavity!

Try booking during the week! Weekend will be on peek and there for the timesheet will be full!

I know but it's honestly not meant like that. Just rarely get out with the brother and that would just put a dampner on the whole thing

A bit harsh don't you think? I totally understand where the OP is coming from. He wants to have a nice round of golf with his brother and not with what could potentially be two complete 'rear cavities' as you put it. Nothing worse than gettiing paired with a total @rse for a round. It'll destroy the day.
If they want to play a round on their own I'm sure this could be
    accommodated.
OP - try getting out early in the morning, say at first light..........

I know what you mean, one of the players at the weekend hit a poor approach shot and proceeded to throw the offending club in the ditch and started yelling "C**t" several times! I couldnt stop laughing but I think it put one of the other players out with us off his game for a couple of holes!!!! I've played with some loopers in my time but he is probably top of the list for losing it!
    Sorry to highjack thread!
But has anyone else got any "crazy" golfer over reaction stories!!!

I was the same when I started...you feel like you are slowling the earths orbit, never mind the two poor unfortunates with you. The reality is though if they went out behind you, they would just be playing through, and if they are quick, they are stuck behind a fourball or slower players, and around we go.....

agree with advice given, if you are uncomfortable, try to pick a quiet tee time.

I have a crazy brother/crazy golfer story. I was playing with my brother years back, he hit a bad shot, and was getting increasingly irritated, and as usual taking it out on me. So I told him where to go if he was going to behave like that. He took his 7 iron, holding it by the grip. he walloped me on the back with the head. The f'ing pr1ck nearly knocked me out with the pain...

See where youre coming from.im an ok golfer but i do find it a bit of a pain in the arse sometimes playin with strangers and havin to make small talk with them.
not only that but puts you under time pressure if you re only a beginner.
on an aside know a guy who played pebble beach with his mrs on honeymoon and was paired w 2 new york stock brokers who were total cocks and refused to speak to them til the 18th when they found out that she shad played w gmac-plenty of ass kissin then

Was playing a steep downhill par 3! One of my playing partners was visibly fuming after putting 3 balls out of bounds. So he very calmly returned to his bag. Placed his club gently into it's correct slot in his bag... Paused for a second then lifted his bag and threw the whole lot cartwheeling down the hill ha!

I can't really comment tho! I still have a 9 iron up a tree somewhere in Scotland ha!
