New toilet installed. It's one of the new ones that only has a six litre flush (I think) but anyway, every few weeks it seems to get partially blocked . any ideas?

could the plumber/builder have left something in the pipe e.g. a bag to stop the smell and forgot to remove it?

have you checked the man holes incase its something outside thats blocking?

Do you mean the outlet is blocked or the inlet?

New house too or just toilet? Could be collasped/partially blocked pipe to the mains (stones, rubbish etc), could be grout/sealer in the U-Bend/Outlet pipes. Or as Fingers queried if its inlet that is blocked check water tanks in attic.

We had a bathroom refit and the new toilet is very deep (if you know what I mean) this morning when hubby flushed , the water rose in the toilet bowl and went down very slowly. I have tried pouring buckets of water down and using my hand (inside a glove) to create a plunging effect. this has worked somewhat but it is still partially blocked . My regular plunger doesn't work (it's too small) is there a newer type of plunger other than the round rubber type?

I really wish I had never started this project :(

Is the toilet in your ensuite...

If so when the plumber disconnect the old one he might have re done pipeing and done away with the vent to prevent siophoning.

Usually the opposite of sipohoning is what you describe

    Get the plumber back.

I have the same problem (with an old toilet). I'm trying to get my hands on one of these mythical large plungers! A plumber suggested I remove the L shaped pipe and use rods to clear the blockage. Opening a sewerage pipe sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!

Woodies in Glasnevin have large plungers with a pump action!
