Question about hiking trails in Wicklow

Hey!

I'm looking into getting out of Dublin for a day or two!

I'm trying to organise a day's hiking in Wicklow. Nothing too long (In the 10 to 15km range), mostly because we're into short days and bad weather. I have never been to Wicklow before.

Anyway, can anyone suggest me a short trail we can follow? Maybe something which is accessible via public transport would be nice also.

Any/all suggestions welcome!

Just a final note; I'm not exactly a city boy, I was born and brought up in the country, so I do not intend to do something stupid while hiking

Glendalough is perfect for that.

Several way marked routes of differing lengths, can be combined also.

Car park is 4 quid a day there too and pub just down the road for finishing up

Or use the Visitor centre car park - which is free. And closer to the pub!

true though its a bit of a way from the start of most of the routes along a walk chock full of tourists, though prob not at this time of year.

Any hike above Lough Tay (the Guiness' estate) near the JB Malone Memorial (the who spear headed the Wicklow Way).

Alternatively ...

Dart to Bray station.
Walk along seafront then up to Bray head with great view of Dublin Bay and Wicklow. Continue on along Greystones. Coffee & scones in any number of great coffee shops before the return journey by foot or jump on the Dart after a nice pint !

I was thinking of something a little more ambitious here. My aim is about a 15km hike, and I think I have something of a plan laid out.

However I'm also contemplating the green addition. What do you think? Would people mind crossing the mountain like this?
