Hey all, any chance you could share any tips on the ernst & young assessment day, got a phone call tonight saying they want me in for an interview tomorrow! doesn't leave much time to prepare.

I heard its a pre-set list of questions the interviewers has? what type of questions did they ask you?

    any help appreciated!

Its strength based so loads of short questions on Teamwork and the usual stuff. Theyre short so you literally just give an example with every question

Like "when did you show leadership" etc?

I had an interview with them before and i was asked "What fascinates you about life?" any gems like that in there?

Do you need to know anything about the economy or current business affairs?

Know something about NAMA and general economic situation. Have a CEO or business man you admire and make sure to get it in somewhere. That always impresses. See jdooleys thread on the same topic for more tips

It was decent enough, i got out of there at 5pm and they rang me at 7pm saying that i have a final round interview tomorrow! i was pretty surprised as whilst the interviewer said i delivered a strong interview, i thought i made a balls of the Aptitude test in the numerical section, although its multiple choice so my guessed answers could have been all correct for all i know!

Was offered 8:30am presentation with interview at 10am, but i asked for the later 12pm as i attended the presentation last year when i didnt get the place and they said it didnt matter if i didnt go, tbh need more time to prep as id have to be up again at 7am to make that presentation. I assume they wont consider that snubbing them as ive had less than 24hrs notice for both of my interviews without having to be there early tomorrow

Anyone any advice on the partner interview? do they ask any business or economy stuff, wasnt asked anything about that today.

any chance you could throw me some examples of Q's you got asked?

chatting to one of the guys in my class, and he told me this was the kind of stuff that came up:
    1) Why do you want to work for EY?
    2) Why do you want to do assurance?
    3) What does assurance involve?
    4) Why do you want to do accounting?
    5) What makes EY stand out from other top 4?
    6) When did you show leadership?
    7) When did you show teamwork?
    8) When did you show communication skills?
    9) What’s more important? Theory or real-life practice?
    10) Know a bit about NAMA
    11) Know a bit about banking crisis

Also told me it was 90mins long! Partially bricking it now, 90mins seems very long!

    From what i remember

    -Tell me about yourself
-Do you rather working in a team or on your own
-When have you made a mistake in life and rectified it
-How do you work in a group with people you don't like
-What do you think makes a good concept or theory
-Do you think its more important to understand something thoroughly or be able to apply something thoroughly ( he asked me something similar to this about when making a presentation do you make sure you understand the topic).
    -When have you shown leadership
-Do you make the most of every day(may have been hour/your time)
-Do you think you are a better worker than your fellow graduates
-Anything else you want to tell me about yourself

You'll find you can relate nearly everything to something you did in college or in your work experience, i didnt get asked about the economy, but fear i may be tomorrow.

Mine was probably the soundest interviewer I've had in Milkrounds, was about 40 mins. He started with chat, then his list of questions where you answer with an example and he moves on, the the end it was more chat about what he does and my questions sort of happened organically rather than "have you any questions?"

be warned one lad was off for 90 mins arrived back while all of us were nearly finished our break, said he was talking about bank bond and nama etc but he initiated it himself, was a sound group in there today hope a few of them get the positions.

I did an assessment for E and Y about 2 months ago to get a co-op placement about 10 of us in a room given a psycometric test that lasted about 25 mins overall. The test was broken into 3 parts each part you had 6 minutes exactly to do as much as you can. First part was verbal reasoning you got 2 paragraphs and each paragraph had 3 questions. Second part was numeric reasoning another 2 paragraphs you read and answer 3 questions on each like when does the product break even etc and finally a kind of shapes that had different symbols that changed the shape and you would have to figure out the final shape. I think about 10 of them.Test was hard but trying to think about all the info in a matter of seconds is the hard bit the questions are easy nothing really tricky. After that I had an hour long interview with a manager from the tax department.I got the placement in the end thank god:D goodluck in yours
