The Guns/3D was excellent - a masterclass by 3D in getting a crowd into a match. Lethal/Robbie E was good, Mickie/Tara was a great segment and a really good, intense brawl, Joe/Jarrett was good enough bar the finish and I really enjoyed EV 2/Fortune (though I seem to be in the minority there) - the rest of the show was very much meh with some terrible finishes.

The show seems to be getting slated very badly in reviews. TNA seems to be in the toilet right now with Angle gone and Hardy's heel turn flopping as expected.

The LAW had a shockingly positive review (thumbs up each) but myself and the guys (who are usually more generous with TNA) absolutely despised it. Afterwards we were drowsy from having watched that sleeping pill.

    I'll break it down (lol)

Jay Lethal (c) vs. Robbie E. w/ Cookie
Wow, this match was not built up at all. It was an average, forgettable match. Nothing bad, but no big spots or botches.

    Mickie James vs. Tara
I have no idea why people thinking awkward brawling for 15 minutes is fun, on impact or on PPV. Not to mention Mickie's horrendous ring-attire. "Shauna Michaels" I'm deeming her. For two of the best women's wrestlers on American TV (obviously not counting indy Shimmer etc) this match was extremely disappointing. They brawled, the crowd was into it, very very generous, we thought it was horrible. These girls can wrestle, can't they?!

The Motor City Machineguns (c's) vs. Team 3D
Extremely enjoyable match -- MMG made Team 3D work the whole match; making it Team 3D's best in-ring match in many years. Congratulations guys, far exceeded expectations. Great match, really involved the crowd, with the right finish. You know you're in trouble when Bubba Ray has the match of the night :pac: Watch out for Sabin's table spot, really impressive.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Rob Van Dam
Horrific slow, boring match. It just kept on going, even after tommy dislocated a wrist bone. ****in' hell, just end. My God. RVD's worst match of the year. Dreamer is a pathetic wrestler. His hesistation dropkick must be 3 inches off the ground. He couldn't even clear a downed ladder's width (about a half foot). Horrible match.

    Fortune vs. EV2
Pretty much a big schmoz, Raven did nothing. Just a meaningless multi-man tag. Instantly forgettable; it gets a "meh". Oddly Kendrick sustained a kayfabe injury but (i think it was) Roode asked him if he was ok when he was leaving, smashing kayfabe. I bet that was Russo's idea.

    Abyss vs. The Pope
So Why the f**k are Pope's "congregation" now not the fans --who in the impact zone, Abyss beat up, who were all white-- now a bunch of scary 90s black guys? I guess it's his posse...for f**ks sake. So I guess this isn't a fans' revenge match :pac: This match was horrible and slow, no storyline, just awful, awful wrestling. Bischoff appeared for the swerve and it was just groan-worthy. Of course the black people could be bought off and would turn on the Pope. Recently I was saying that wrestling loves stereotypes but tries not to be racist, was embarrassed by this.

    Jeff Jarrett vs. Samoa Joe
I couldn't get over how badly out of shape and unfocussed/unmotivated Joe was. A passable performance, sadly disappointing as it's not half as good as Joe is capable of doing. Of course, TNA jobs Joe out clean. He must be in the lowest point of his career, or nearing it. Why are TNA faces all idiots? (RVD included, being lead by the nose by Bischoff...)

LOL there was a highlights video package recapping the PPV. Oddly placed.

Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Matt Morgan
Thank God morgan didn't just lay down for Hardy. I appreciate hardy was wrestling as a heel, but it was extremely boring. I know these two could have had a very good match, but it was not enjoyable to watch. The "fake kick-out spot" was incredulous as the ref was looking at the shoulders, I can see what TNA were trying to do with the 3 Twist of Hates (cool name) but this match was average at best and I couldn't recommend it at all.

Overall, the PPV was one of the worst I've seen this year (i think there was one around the Spring-Summer which was horrible too) and it'll do terrible buys --deservedly so-- as TNA didn't announce the main event until the Reaction before the PPV. A company with it's head up it's ass. I try keep positive for TNA but there was only one great match, and the rest was average to horrific. You'd do well to avoid this PPV like the plague.

How did Joe get beaten clean? He was jumped by security and choked out with a bat. That couldn't have been further from clean if they tried.

And in fairness they only didn't announce the ME because of the injury to Anderson and the need to establish a new contender with Pope and Joe busy, Angle out and one would assume they didn't want to give away RVD/Hardy on such short notice.

I think Guns vs. * will always be the best on any show...

    Source: Pwinsider.com

Jackson James, the referee for Sunday night's TNA Turning Point main event of Hardy vs. Morgan who "screwed up" the pinfall, is actually Garrett Bischoff. He is the son of Eric Bischoff and last night was his TNA debut.

Word is that Bischoffs son has been training with Brian Knobbs of The Nasty Boys and that his identity had been kept quiet from people in the company.

No word yet if they plan to reveal him as Bischoffs son on TV

He really did F up the pin

He really did F up the pin

I think that was actually planned as stupid as that sounds. They wanted to give Morgan some credibility in losing and it seems they went with that.

Did they do the Hogan special - kick out just after the three count? Has to be a Hulkster idea, he always did that to people when he had to put them over clena but still wanted to look strong.

No Hardy just didn't kick out but the ref stopped counting because Hardy kicked his foot up. It was ridiculous.

The show took a complete nosedive after the first 3 great matches.

Dreamer/RVD killed the crowd and nothing afterwards brought them back into it so the show was doomed. I will repeat though, I really enjoyed EV 2/Fortune - I thought it was a really good, exciting, fast paced match.

    Yep chord.

Machismo, ya "clean" wasn't the right word. Joe wasn't screwed, run-ins are pretty par for the course. He was beaten how all heels generally win.

There's absolutely no excuse for not announcing the main event during iMPACT before the PPV. It's idiocy of impressive magnitude and nothing less. TNA deserve their 4,000 buys prediction.

RVD seems to have gotten over almost being murdered by Abyss pretty quickly. And seems to have forgotten that he never lost the title as well!

The quarter they announced it in (the first quarter of ReAction) had a higher rating than the final quarter of iMPACT! so really it wasn't the worst decision, plus they then had forty-five minutes to push the match to over 800,000 people. They were put in a position where they had to establish a contender on short notice with a number of top contenders already in established feuds. They did the best they could given the circumstances.

I honestly can't believe you're defending TNA's booking practices. I wouldn't call jobbing Morgan to Jarrett on last week's iMPACT or announcing Morgan as the replacement after their final A-show as "the best they could".

That's an interesting stat about ReAction (didn't know that) -- although we here in Europe don't get ReAction.

I can't help but think they'd be better served to have had a number of wrestlers jockey for that title shot on iMPACT and revealing who it was come match time at the PPV. Or, on iMPACT, have a battle royal/royal rumble and having Morgan win it, or just announcing Matt Morgan's getting the shot early on and having him mow down some fortune/immortal member(s)....I can't imagine the ReAction annoucement brought in 1 more buy than what i've suggested, and that's off the top of my head.

Being honest any of the ways you suggested wouldn't have added a single buy to the show. Morgan at the moment isn't a credible contender and he was just a means to an end with few options available.

I don't get your issue with when they announced it. They announced it when they had their average number of viewers and then spent the next forty-five minutes hard-selling the show to half of the average iMPACT! audience. Once Anderson got hurt it was always going to hurt the main event no matter who they put there and I assume they didn't want to give away RVD/Hardy on such short notice considering that looks like it's the only main event match (bar a well executed Anderson revenge storyline and maybe Angle vs. RVD and Hardy) that'll even remotely affect PPV numbers positively.

Just watched it there. I'm amazed that I didn't enjoy the hardy match. Morgan seemed to be giving it a fair go but hardy just made it seem so unituitive as a heel. What does he have going for him? Twist of Hates are fun, yeah, but what about all the other stuff he can do? Swantons are a huge spot, bastardised DDTs are like the starter for it to happen. Making him do that pin kick out thing was silly as it just looked ****. The boy can wrestle, but how he's planning his matches is just going feckin sideways.

    /rant and rave

3d vs MCMG was sweet, stoked that they let MCMG go over them. Really enjoyed it.

Tara vs Mickie was great, really built up something to play off of. Also looked genuine enough for the mark in me to go "Whheeeeee"

RVD vs Dreamer was slow and annoying. Pity about him jacking his arm halfway. Silly move not letting the match finish then, but even sillier not selling it more before RVD had to "Put him down"

    EV vs 4chan
This was fun, what else can I say? I'll miss sabu! :'(

    Uhhh... Oh yeah.

Jersey vs Shore (or whatever it was called)
Nice match, I'm liking the developement of this storyline! :D

    Pope vs Abyss
Man that shock treatment looks like a bitch of a move to do. I really like it, but that can NOT be good for your spine! Think of it this way: jump onto a few pillows like a leg drop. Now rack up 80kg on a bar and put it across your shoulders and do that again. Oh look, you're back it broken :D. Didn't think the lumberjacks had to swerve. Also, can Bischoff fcuk off for one night? Yeeesh.

    Joe vs Jeff
I TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS WITH OTHER PEOPLES MOVES, YOU DON'T KNOW ME AND WHAT I'VE DONE FOR THIS COMPANY AND TO KURTS WIFE.
You just read that in Jeffs voice.

Sorry for that being non-liner but I'm hungover to bits. Paul Gilbert for the win! :D

In general, the longer the audience knows what the main event is, and the longer you can push it, the more buys you'll get. Giving us 2 weeks (6 hours) of solid Pro-Morgan build would gain more interest (aka buys) than just takking it on at the end like a disclaimer.

I'll give a WWE example. What was WWE kayfabe impetus to have a PPV called Bragging Rights? It was to have a RAW vs SD match. When did they announce/start building towards this match? The week of the PPV. Far too late for anyone to get excited and want to pay to see it. But what if they spent the full month with RAW invading SD and vice versa, culminating @ Bragging Rights? More interest, aka more buys. OK so it wasn't the main event but it was the reason Bragging Rights is supposed to exist in the first place, and does hold weight.

Starting to push the main event with 45 minutes to go to half your audience is an absolute disgrace. If WWE did this it'd be far more publicised, but people have come to expect this heads-up-assery from TNA.

I still think my booking would drum up more interest than 'the nothing', but horses for courses.

Anyway where I'm going with this is : the later you leave it to solidify and build the main event, the less interest and buys you'll have. Maybe it didn't mean a thing to you because you didn't have to pay for the PPV and you were gonna watch it regardless (like myself), but in terms of drumming up interest/buys to the paying American audience, it means a hell of a lot.

Actualy, due to my liking of TNA I'm thinking of joining their TNA on demand thingy.
Then again, lets see if I have the money... :/

In an ideal world yes and it's exactly what TNA were doing with Hardy/Anderson but they were put in a position where they had to shift their plans entirely on the fly. TNA had to turn Morgan and establish why he could be a title contender despite losing to Kendrick and Raven in recent months and they did both to the best of their ability. There's a laundry list of things TNA could be justifiably criticised for - their treatment of the Turning Point main event isn't really one of them.
