Can anyone tell me how du Plessis didn't get cited for his gouge on Wallace? Wallace was in clear distress after the incident yet nothing..! If it had been a Munster player doing the same thing you'd expect at least a 12-week ban :pac:

Ill see if I cam find a clip...

You can see it from about 1hr 14s on here

    No.

    No-one on this forum can.

Have to say I noticed this when watching the match and it seemed fairly nasty. It is hard to make out whether or not he gouged from the footage though!

Personally I think it was a gouge and Du Plessis is very lucky there was no clear footage of the incident. Wallace did look distressed and needed assistance around the eye area after the incident. I might upload it to youtube actually.

Looked to me to be definite and deliberate contact with the eye area.
    Thought so at the time.

It looked inconclusive to me. I'm sure if there was gouging, the Irish team would have reported it. As there's been no word of it in the media I'm sure there wasn't.

Judging by David Wallaces reaction or lack of i don't think there was much in this.

Agreed. Looks to me like du plessis has made contact with his left hand very briefly as he goes off his feet. Either the sneakiest gouge I've ever seen or (more likely imo) completely unintended. I wouldn't think anything of it but for the fact that du plessis has been sanctioned for careless contact before. There comes a point when a player loses the right to the benefit of the doubt...

    Agreed.

Have to bear in mind here that it doesn't take much contact for the eye to hurt. Its an accident in my eye. (NPI)

Have you ever played with forwards?
You know exactly what your hands are doing.

And if you look carefully the replay (25"), you will see that Du Plessis is not at all focused on the ball, but on Wallace head, before putting his hand on his face.

It can't be anything else than a deliberate act.

The independent citing commissioner thinks otherwise and the Irish camp have not proceeded with any further action.
    Case closed really.

    Agreed. Case closed.

Shocking really - I would have hoped everybody on here would at least be able to realise that there was nothing in it...

I have and I think you are totally wrong.
