    Hi guys

I know there are prob loads of similar threads around on this, so sorry to ask again, just havent a clue about this!

I want to hook my laptop (which is old and crappy!) to my Sony Bravia HD tv.

The laptop only has usb ports, and a VGA port.

The TV has scart, usb and HDMI ports.

I assume I need to hook the VGA to HDMI, but do I need need a convertor?

Can i buy a VGA to DVI cable, and then hook DVI to HDMI?

Or is there a different way of doing this??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mimojo, you got two options to choose from, VGA to SCART converter or a VGA to HDMI converter. VGA to HDMI are quite expensive, so the best option would be to get a VGA to SCART converter, but keep in mind a SCART to VGA cable may not work which we usually find in electronic stores, this conversion do really require an electronic converter. check this links you will get some idea

    Hi Guys

I received my order today via ebay, as recommended by ye, thanks!

I am just hooking it up and it is working fine, just the sound is playing through the computer rather than the TV. Is this normal ie. it is a picture projector only, or do I need another cable for sound? I really havent a clue!

    Thanks!

I don't think you can get sound through a VGA cable
    (I could be wrong)

but my setup is a vga cable from my pc to a 32" Tv vga input

Might be worth buying USB speakers in your case for sound

    EDIT: Woops I was wrong

william!! you are right... you can get sound through VGA cable.

Thats normal, get an audio cable to connect laptop (spk out or headphone port) to your TV (audio in).

If its a HDTV look on the back most HDTV's nowadays have a VGA port. Your laptop has a VGA port so just get a VGA cable :D:D VGA doesnt carry sound I usually route the sound through my surround sound system. Works a treat.
