Anyone interested in lunchtime training sessions in St Stephens Green?
I'm a martial arts student working in town and would love to meet up with other like-minded people who are interested in training and swaping ideas and techniques in an informal friendly environment regardless of what style practiced.

I work on Merrion Sq, so not far from the Green, I'd be up for it, and give it a try, it has a chance of being the start of something, a place, a public park where martial knowledge is shared and worked on!
Im around from Wednesday next week, guess it would be polite to say a little about my martial arts background.... Might be good if anyone posting did to give a feel for the variety of experience available?

Well I practice Wudang Tai Chi Chaun, empty hand, sabre, sword and spear and have an interest in sanshou/ sanda and shuai jiao / tui shou competition,
Hope to see some more Irish Martial Artists reclaim their cities green spaces! Done this before in st Patricks and Belgrave park worked well!

Great stuff, Merrion Square might actually be better suited as there won't be quite so many people as in Stephens Green.

The styles I've studied myself are mainly, Karate with Jiu Jitsu and Sin Moo Hapkido techniques but have experience in Kick Boxing and Muay Thai, also little bit of Chinese Martial Arts, and am totally open to trying anything.

Niall, as you're free from next Wednesday, maybe we'll start then, so if you or anyone else wants to PM me their contact details so we can organise meeting up a bit better for training.

No offense mate, but is this for real ??

Sure, no offense taken:), just not sure what you don't understand as you've quoted the entire post, training at lunchtime? training outside? crosstraining in different styles, learning from other martial artists? training in friendly environment? If you can be a bit more specific with what part you're wondering is 'for real' maybe I can try and answer your question:confused:.

Just for your info, other groups have started with similar threads before, mostly Capoeira.

I found training at lunch in St Pats cathedral with Niall hugely beneficial for the summer we did it, not to mention great gas. Mostly pad work and conditioning, where the 3-5 hours extra training a week really helped my competition fitness. And the slagging from the local young lads and old dears was only hilarious. To be recommended if you get a chance.

I'm working around Marlay park / St Endas these days, so lunch time in town isn't a possibility. Anyone around this area interested in giving it a go send me a PM. I'm well out of shape at the moment, but would certainly be up for a bit of padwork / drills etc..
