    Hi guys n gals,

Am about to shift my car and buy a Merc Cl55 AMG. I have been warned that they are expensive B's to fix if something goes wrong so here's the question:

It's a Private sale - would a garage be on for selling me an extended warranty on the car in any way, shape or form? I presume they'd give it the once over before they did to ensure its up to par (as I will be before I part with the cash)

    Cheers

I got an extended warranty for my AMV8. My terms for buying the vehicle privately were that it had to be serviced first and I see the report. As part of that service and inspection I added the warranty for 1500 quid.

Tomorrow I find out if its any good. (6 months later - leaky tailgate/dodgy battery). At 1500 quid a year it had better cover those.

It did include emergency breakdown assistance though -again getting tested tomorrow.

My theory is that I will buy a warranty for the 1st year, maybe the 2nd and then I will self-insure(ie risk it). Even minor items can cost many thousands so without knowing the history of the car it seemed like a prudent choice.
I would do the same for a Cl55 AMG, even though Mercs are far more reliable.

Best of luck with that. Im expecting a quote from the local merc dealership this morning so we'll see how we go.

If the car's currently under warranty then you can extend, but if it's out then it's out.
