    Hi

Just if anyone has managed to get the Nokia 1616-2 (Meteor+The Star+Carphone Warehouse promotions a few weeks back) unlock yet?

I've tried GSM Solutions just down from Jervis and no luck. Also tried a chap down at market in Kilkenny.

    Has anyone had any luck?

    Thanks

    It cannot be unlocked yet

Just a general question why can some phones not be unlocked. Is it due to the specific phone, or how the network has set it up.

All phones can be unlocked. But the carrier might just be a bollix in some cases. Not all phones can be "hacked" (well they can, but maybe noone has bothered for particular model). The radio software is usually completely seperate from the OS.
