    Both are good rifles.
Ruger make some fine Rifles, however Howa are on the up and up too.

For roughly the same money you could look at a Savage in the same caliber.

tryt the trigger on the ruger i bought one and had to change the trigger non adjustable and 8lbs was a bit on the high side i thought ;)apart from that it's a fine rifle very accurate and i like it

I have both and love both... But I think the Ruger is a nicer handling gun :)

For me the howa wins by far.
Tikka or remmy would also be options.
Remmy would have the advantage of a slightly tighter twist and might handle 100gr ammo better.

Overall I think a stainless Howa has the best design. Integrated recoil lug, a trigger that can be tuned very well, no plastic bits that crack off after a while and good aftermarket bits.
The plastic stocks that come with remmy, howa , tikka or ruger are really not great. The laminated stocks would be a better option even if they are a bit heavy.
Some gunsmiths refuse to work on Ruger.

second landkeeper on the trigger. The factory trigger was way to heavy on mine. Fitted a timney trigger and rifle turned out a real shooter. As posted above howa seems to be where the value and quality is. Mervyn young was doing a deal on the howa 1500 with scope and mod for around 800 sterling.
