The €25 rebate is off the price of another drive should you decide to buy it

Not sure what your getting at there chief?

    The deal is:

You buy the multimedia drive, say the 1TB for €119.
Log on to the manufacturers website, download a form, post it to the manufacturer.
Get €25 cashback by bank transfer.

Note that it looks like you need to apply for the rebate and get all relevant info to Dane Elec within 5 days of purchase:

They seem to be a bit confused themselves, as according to THIS PAGE on the site:

''€25 cashback when you purchase a Dane Elec hard drive

Offer valid from October 20, 2010 through January 20, 2011 in Metropolitan France (including overseas department and Corsica), Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.''

Hmmm - confusing alright... I'm guessing that the terms & conditions are accurate but the introductory rebate page is not?

Also - to get things in within the 5 day limit you'd probably need to apply for the rebate and post the stuff off to France immediately on the day that you purchase?

I've only ever seen this sort of rebate in the US (e.g. Frys etc.) and most of the time it's more hassle than it's worth... :(

Yea, it looks as if they forgot to update the english version of the main page, as the french version says ''avant le 20/01/2011'' , which means before the 20/01/2011.

They've some advertising up in Easons' Cork promoting the cash back but no dates, Ts&Cs displayed. Most of Easons' HD stock had no indication of price so the displayed information may not be 100% dependable.

I think that's what the manufacturer is counting on!

Just out of curiousity, are these prices in-store for Eason's, or online?

Both, I think. I saw some of them in the O'Connell Street (Dublin) shop today at those prices.

Maxburns are doing a Seagate 2.5 Portable 1TB Hard Drive for €119.00 in store or €109.00 on line.

Got one the other day. :)

I'd have paid the extra €20 and got two 500GB's myself. 1TB is a lot of data to lose if anything goes assways.

Must pick up one of the Eason's 500GBs though as an Xmas gift.

Think Etihad were doing similar for alot less mileage, about 16k if I recall.

Boards could do with a freq flyers forum.

Its a lot to lose for someone foolish enough not to keep a back up of it.

Space is so cheap these days there is absolutly no excuse for loosing data. I keep a back up of everything in a desktop slave drive.
