Its coming to this time of year again but this year I am not going with my usual supplier and dry cow thearpy brand as I heard that the brand i usally ise cause high cell count and are not the best on the market.
So i am looking for the best brand people think I should use??One that will dry the cows off properaly with no mastitis and will not put my cell count through the roof?? And also the best place to purchase them and price to would be great.
    Thanks!

Stay from teat sealers anyway, I found that unless I was there at every cow calving and hand milked the cow, the calf could not get colostrum. Or at least it was difficult for a calf to start suckling by itself.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

i use bovaclox extra and pay 150 euro for a 30 cow bucket

i use a cheap one with a short withdrawal on any thing that has a low scc, or no history of mastitis. and then a good one with long withdrawal, cepravin dc,or cepraguard on problem cows. any thing 3rd lact and under with a high scc gets good tubes and a bottle of tylo.
if you are milk recording, progressive will do a bulk sensitivity to see what are the best tubes to use, or else a sample of individual cows to see what best to use

tried that once and never again had a disaster with cows calving down with mastitis might be ok if place is spotless

our tank cell count is 90K dont see much point in wasting money,

we ensure all cows get at least 8 weeks dry period

place is not spotless but it isn't dirty either, rubber mats on the cubicles cleaned & sprinkled with cube lime daily

calving pens floors and 1 metre up the wall get a shot of cubicle lime after each calving, and are straw bedded

if it works for you snowman great but just dont think it s worth the risk one cow going wrong would pay for an awful lot of tubes

will the milk recorder do the sensitivity test or is it a different call altogether?

the milk recorder will do the test just let them know before hand. some times you can get a sample bottle and take the bulk sample your self and post away. think it is about e26 per sample and the same for antibody test for bvd, ibr lepto and johnes(all done in one test). and e36 for the bvd pcr test, stand corrected though. if you are doing a range of tests on the bulk tank, you might need more than one sample..
