thanks for reply. I was looking at auto trader and cars like mine are going for 1500-1900...whats the story with that? Is there any good sites to sell cars on besides autotrader? Can you sell on boards? cheers

If it's a 5-door HLX it would be worth more than that.

    donedeal.ie is very good.

Write a good ad and take some good pictures and then price the car correctly and it should sell.

Also adverts.ie is a partner of boards.ie however I find you get people making annoying offers however a lot of stuff sells there

    Donedeal seems to be recommended.

Boards seems to be alligned to Adverts.ie - see link at top left of the screen ^^

    Not really.

Yes really. I sold sold a clean '01 D-door HLX 5 door, 50k, full service and NCT just before the long weekend. Got €1600 for it. Clean cars with low mileage of that vintage always sell well.

well i put my 01 punto on donedeal last month. 95k miles, 3months test, 2 months tax. running perfectly. put it up for 650 and sold it the next day. got about 40 calls and 50 texts overall. yours would get about 900. theres too many puntos for sale to be getting anymore. you should get more as i think puntos are fantastic cars. my 8v never gave me a bit of bother, loved it....just liked astras more :D

That one I sold was the taken by the first person to view it. It was as straight as a die and was my sisters car for the last 4 years. It didn't have a mark on it, and it was buffed / polished / steam cleaned the seats. It looked and even smelt like new. Head gasket aside on some, the 8v is a little cracker once it's looked after.

autotrader.. 1500 would be the starting price for negotiations...
but realistically i would expect 1000 to 1200
a lot of puntos but a low mileage one like yours will generate a bit more interest...

If that car doesn't make over a grand ye can all chip in and buy me a hat and I'll video myself eating it for ye...

I'm a HLX Punto owner and specifically went for this model as its more highly specced than the regular model as well as having the 16v engine which is a little bit quicker and thought not to suffer from the head gasket issue that the 8v does. Obviously I know it could still happen, but it would be rare compared to the 8v's near guarantee.

anyone wana buy it, or know anyone. I think 1,400 euro is a fair price considering the milage. It's red by the way- im the original poster. PM if if anyone has genuine interest.

Up on donedeal. 3 euro and it won't last pissing time at that money. Put it up for 1500

couldnt fault my 8v either! serviced it every 3000 and drove it softly while cold, and waxed every 2nd week and washed every week served me well

only 30k miles, 11 months tax, 5 door cheap to tax & insure. :)

    I'd say €1100 - €1200, definitely not less than a grand

donedeal.ie red punto-up for 1500euro if anyone interested

You looking for a top price for a poorly presented car. Get out a bucket of water, a sponge and some car wax and present it better if you want a good price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 262 ✭✭Karlrove

johnkos,I worked really hard to present my automobile in a positive light...i couldnt afford wax so i used fairy liqiud. if you buy it,ill wax it in front of you. Regards Johnos

I'm not trying to annoy you but it looks dirty in these pictures especially around the bottom of the doors and sill area. The light isn't helping either.

    Full?id=4515713

A bottle of wax can be got in tesco for about €6, kits including shampoo, wax and tyre shine can be gotten for around 10-12e in Woodies

You are looking for what I believe to be strong money at a time of the year which can be difficult to sell a car.

My advice is purely meant to help you

I don't know if you think what John said was sarcasm or not, either way he's right. The car doesn't look well at all in those pictures. That said you'd be surprised. I'd clean it up another bit.

    No sarcasm.

I was just trying to help with some friendly advice

However the 8v is a non-intereference design so their isnt any worry about timing belts snapping and causing lots of damage.

Ah yeah I knew that of course ;)

Luckily I got the timing belt done just before I bought it. Alasta Autos are great people to buy from, even if it was only a small money sale.

Again friendly advice but I'd put the same price in both ads.

Its a pain to explain to an interested party why its priced differently especially if you don't know where they saw it advertised ;)

No need to post the same link several times - or to start a new thread with another link. This forum isn't for flogging your car.

Edit - that's three threads now. Closing this one, we've had enough.
