Winds starting to pick up here in Co. Clare now.
Very high tides all last week too.

A lot of our land is under high tide level. It if bursts the banks it will be like New Orleans. It happened here in the 40's.
Since then they've built lots of houses in the area.
If the banks do go, it's not the just the river Shannon that comes in, it's the ocean.

Would you believe that a lot of Shannon Town is built on these low lying corcas lands too. Madness.

Thats a lot of shannon and limerick folk under water i hear ennis has a lot of low lying buildings lets hope nobody gets flooded

Getting fairly windy in Tipp now, only in the last hour or so. Raining now too. I hear next Thursday is going to be bad as well.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

When it comes to planning in this country, nothing would suprise me:( - the worse thing is that lessons are never learnt, its a well estaiblished part of the general gombeen attitude to such things in this banana republic:rolleyes:

PS: Only a few drops so far tonight, though the winds have got up!!

Was out in the ruin of an old shed with it arrived around 3pm. Nasty to be out in, for the sake of being out. But, as a storm? It was pretty crap.

The coming Friday looks more like the real deal - I blame our dumb media for overhyping this run of the mill bit of wind and rain:rolleyes:

I think they are creating a storm in a tea-cup to compensate for the flooding they didn;t forecast last year:rolleyes: Unless of course we get the real blast tomorrow, but it seems to have blown over the western side of the country anyway. As John said it wasn;t exactly what one would call a storm anyway. Having said that I wouldn't have fancied roundin sheep on a hill today:eek: (the dog be blown away):D

calm enough here in Co. Clare too, not very windy during the night either.

Plenty of rain though, winter's in now for sure.:(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,438 ✭✭✭5live

Yup. Winter has arrived for sure. I dont think what arrived yesterday could be described as a storm. Like a previous poster, i think they were covering their ass in case it was a bad one they didnt forecast. Putting in the dogs last night was cold but no more windy than normal tbh. But the cows are in now(dammit) and refusing to go out:(. Hope the silage is very elastic to stretch a few more weeks

Bloody windy in West Connemara now. It's supposed to get worse here between noon and three pm, so batten down anything that needs battening down folks.
