    I bought ,for around £35 a "Terra-Boost "
Digital log periodic antenna kit from Maplin in Belfast.
    Comes with power supply.5-12v dc.25db amp,and fixing kit.All with "F" plugs.
The whole thing is small and cute,to be technical for a moment.
It seems to do what it says on the tin and will bring in channels 43 46 and RTE 54 from south Down.
It would be the sort of set up that would not offend appartment dwellers.
The box had been on Maplin's shelf for quite a while, was torn open ,but all the parts were enclosed.I don't see it on their web site, but worth a punt,if one can be located.Hope I haven't offended the professional installers.

No aerials in Maplin are worth buying apart from
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=33215 (if you have a Strong indoor signal).

They are all overpriced (but otherwise usable), poor quality or overpriced poor quality. I've examined them all.

Most are in the 2nd & 3rd categories.

    @Watty
Very true but remember you have to pay more for the HD version of this aerial.:D

Digital HD with Gold Connectors, Oxygen free copper wire.
Dielectric Components are Poly(1-phenylethane-1,2-diyl) which are PCB (Polychlorinated biphenyl) free.
The aerial is also Asbestos, Mercury and Cadmium free.

Why are we comparing chalk with cheese?
I offer my humble opinion based on personal experience, regarding an antenna for outside use with a mast head amp.People offer their valued comments, which are of course welcome and helpful for other folk who may be looking for a simple solution to their receiption problems.
Why anyone would think I am receiving channels 43,46,and 54from S.Down on a Set top aerial is showing a degree of knowledge I unfortunately don't pocess.
For over two years now Dab radio has been received on a loft aerial also at a location in S.Down.Almost all Mux N .and South from stations such as Magic and RTE Gold romping through.
This aerial was purchased at Maplin for £14.
Obviously Board threads are based on peoples personal experience, they are largly opinions which one would hope are offered in a helpful manner and with a high degree of moderation.
