Any tips as to where to park today? We're leaving Kilkenny at 1pm (coming in from the N7) Normally make Newlands Cross in an hour so hopefully we're leaving enough time for the journey....
I would be open to using the Dart if it was practical but TBH I dont know my arse from my elbow when it comes to making my way around Dublin!:D!

    Thanks for the help,

    K

There's a church on the corner of Anglesea Rd and Simmoncourt Rd that usually opens about 2hrs before kick-off, they charge about €5.

Not sure about on street free parking but Herbert Park area might be free on Saturdays.

I usally head down the M50 and then up the N11 if I'm heading for the church, I find it a lot faster.

You could park at the park and ride at the red cow and get the luas in. If you dont fancy driving/parking in dublin that could take the trauma out of it.

If you're considering using the LUAS then head for the P&R in Tallaght, you'll be boarding the LUAS before the masses and should get seats. I used the LUAS when the matches were in Croke Park but for LR I usually use the church or on street parking as mentioned above.

If doing this, consider staying on the tram all the way to The Point, cross the East Link Bridge into Rindsend and follow the Dodder to Lansdowne Road. Exact approach route to the stadium may be match ticket dependent.

Thanks for all the replies lads, as usual the boardsies come up trumps with sound advise!!
I reckon we'll chance parking at the church as reccomended by Phog....

Pity they dont organise buses direct to the ground from somewhere like the red cow or Tallaght... T'would keep traffic away from the ground and the city centre....

Thanks again lads, enjoy the game

I would like to ask a question. I've heard different stories about the DART and whether it stops at Lansdowne Road. So does it stop at Lansdowne Road in the time leading up to the game?

It does. You should check your ticket though, because depending on where you're sitting in the stadium, the Lansdowne Road dart stop may not be the one for you. You might have to get off at Grand Canal Dock (one stop closer to town) or Sandymount (one stop further away from town) and walk around.

Could be too late for you now but Charlie Chawke used to run buses from the Goat to the match in the days of LR. There would some free parking available at the pub.

Cheers. Yeah my ticket says to enter via Lansdowne Road so that's perfect for me.

@phog: Followed your advise and it worked out perfectly... Made it from the carpark to Kilkenny in 90 mins.... Thanks again..
