I looking at done deal at the trailer section. I see a 6 by 4 galvinised trailer with mesh creels for 750 euro's. I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow. The seller says its brand new. I been looking at others and there are painted/sprayed for about the same price and higher.

Rang Westwood the other day and they priced me €2000 plus VAT for a new twin axle 10 x 5 trailer (model GD105G, wheels at side as opposed to low loader type) 2700 KG capacity with drop tail gate. Platform is the resin coated ply.

Only starting to keep an eye on donedeal for an Ifor Williams, but the new price seems competitive, once the VAT is knocked off.

Ifor Williams are excellent trailers. I just looked at the the website and the same 6 by 4 trailer is very nice but there is no price on the website. I looked at the gumtree.ie website and there is a 7 by 4 for 1000 euros with a ramp.

A 7x4 is smaller than you think compared to an 8x4. There is even a relevant difference between the 8.5x4.5. But right and buy once, buy ****e and buy twice;)

    +1

I bought a GD84 Ifor WIlliams with ramp and mesh sides earlier this year, from Westwood.

It wasn't cheap but its new, will be well looked after, will have parts available, not that I expect to need them, is galvanised and is very strong yet easy to tow. In other words, I expect this trailer to see me out and I dont plan on going anytime soon!!

It's actually 8'2" x 4'2", rated for 2.7 tons I think, and is fine for all I want it. Westwood were good to deal with too.

I can understand that the factory build trailers are excellant and I've only used an Ifor Williams trailer once..

There are a lot off of good quality home built trailers out there, we bought a second hand home built 8*4 about 15 years ago, whoever made it knew their stuff, it runs so well behind the car/van I've had 2 tonne in it and it ran great..
cost £200 and has been re-floored 3 times.

Problem is with home built that you don't know until it's loaded behind the car/van where the factory made trailers are sure to be good....
