Giving one weeks notice

    Right im looking for a bit of help,well im on my holidays from work the last 2 weeks and in that time im after finding another job that's starting on the 15th this month,but im back in work on Monday and what im wondering is i have 7 days holidays left,can i ring my boss today and say that im giving my weeks notice and i want to use 5 of my holidays so basically i wont be back.

    The job im in is a contract till February 2011 and i have been there since February this year,now there is no union in the factory or anything,if anybody has any advice on my options please let me know.

    If your notice period is a week and you have a weeks leave owing then I guess you can apply for that leave. Your employer can refuse to give you the leave - they can choose to pay you in lieu.

    Is your notice period just one week? Seems pretty short. It normally matches your pay frequency if its not specified in your contract.
