You should really start by finding a teacher and then discussing WHICH sax (soprano/alto/tenor) and then makes and models...

    +1.

OP : I love the sound of the saxophone, especially the tenor. I dont know much about them, but I'd assume, like most instruments, there is an entry level. I know "Lidls" were recently selling them. Dont know if they were any good.

Re lessons : You could start by having a look here :

Be sure and let us know how you get on.

    Good luck with it. :)

I am going to have a go at the Sax myself and I will head to this guy :
    http://www.paulryanmusic.com/
He has a list of tutors on that site as well.
You can rent one out from him or purchase a decent starter model.
I really would love if when you do start you post, or anybody reading would post, how hard is it to learn.
I have played lot's of non wind instruments and the sax is the last instrument on my long list of instruments I wanted to learn how to play.
So make sure to post back and best of luck :-)
