How do I find out what elctoral area I am in?

I haven't voted in about 20 years (to my shame), I have re-registered this year and see on http://www.checktheregister.ie that I am entitled to vote in the next elections.

I would like to educate myself on the likely candidates in my area as well whoever is the sitting TD so I can make an informed decision on who to vote for.
Can anyone point me in the direction where I can find this information please?

You can find your local TD or senator here
http://www.oireachtas.ie/

And for your local councillors, every council has a website.

And to see who the likely candidates will be, you could start a thread here or in a regional forum.
Or chat to the local newspaper or even attend a few cumann meetings

interestingly enough www.checktheregister.ie does not tell you which constituency you are in!!

there are going to be some revisions for the next election so your current one may change

there is a gneral map of constituencies which may help, unless you live on the borders http://www.oireachtas.ie/ViewDoc.asp?fn=%2Fdocuments%2Flibrary%2FMap_of_Ireland.htm

otherwise if you want to give us a general idea of where you live we ,ight be able to help

OP, your local library staff might be able to tell you or inform you via the copy of the electoral roll they keep on site.

Fair play to you for deciding to start voting again by the way.
Now if we can just get more of the disillusioned youth to do same....

Ta for posting this - I had completely forgotten (amongst all the outrages!) that I was registered in my old area.
Will be updating that asap.
I hope absolutely everyone makes sure they are properly registered this time.
