I see Jack O Connor, on the news tonight, calling all the comrades out to march against the budget. Didn't he try that last year and fail.

but is that not why he gets a fancy pay cheque, which the members ask him to do through their subs each and every week.

Maybe Siptu president Jack O’Connor wants to publicly on his mega-a-mofone explain to people of Ireland how more than €4 million from various State sources has been paid into the Siptu National Health and Local Authority Levy Fund, which was operated by one of its officials and a long-standing member............. and was only "resting in the account"

First thing O Connor should do is take his share of the pain felt by his fellow workers... A 15% paycut.... A 50% cut in his expenses . Then a 20% cut in members weekly subscriptions... If he and the rest of the elite in the trade union movement were serious socialists that they claim to be , then they should lead by example...They creamed it big time when we hade the Celtic Tiger.

Jack O'connor perfectly illustrates the problems with socialism. I don't need to explain this as Mr Orwell provides an excellent summary:
"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others"

I can confirm that you read wrong - € 124,000 per annum , just think you'd get just over 24 Jack O'Connors for every 1 Brian Goggin.

Marches protesting budget cuts to take place on 27th November , hoping for 600,000 turnout according to Indo.

Getting the walking shoes polished already.

What cuts are they protesting against exactly ? Or is it just a "down with this sort of thing" protest

Perhaps you could tell us what his salary is?, how much he claims in expenses?and how much weekly subs are?

Is this a protest to abandon the Croke Park Agreement?:p
    It's a rabble rabble protest.

Jack claims to be a communist so you can approach him and ask to share his 124k a year salary.

I'm finding it difficult to see an actual discussion here, apart from one or two posts.

There's no problem with a discussion on Jack O'Connor, his aims, his wants, his union (or their aims and wants) or indeed, his salary where that's relevant, but for anyone starting such a thread, please aim higher. Present a point and run with it rather than going for a twitter-style discussion from the very beginning - it's the duty of an OP to set up a discussion.
