How much would a copper cylinder be worth as scrap?

Installing a new central heating system and the plumber pulled out the old copper cylinder.

He's taken it away with my permission. Just wondering how much will he get for it off scrap dealers???

£25-£30 maybe depending on the size and how old it is

most plumbers will take it with them without asking because its normally better to take all rubbish away and leave the place clean rather than tanks, pipes, pumps, general rubbish being left for the householder to worry about.

I have a scrap man collect boilers for me because it saves the householder having to scrap it, I get nothing out of it - he does (not very much for boiler tho) but leaves the place clean and tidy.

These threads pop up every now and again.... Its more trouble for the plumber to occupy space in the van then the money its worth.

I knew a plumber use to collect them in his back garden and crush them and bring them to a merchant in lots of 10 or so...

Needless to say i would be happy at the plumber takeing it away... You get a lot of people wondering around your garden and skip especially around dublin city for scrap metal...

I use to get a tenner for the cylinders.

In June I got €750 for 10 standard cylinders and a 6ft one. There was also half a bag of copper off cuts.

Well worth collecting copper if you have space for it. Already have 6 or 7 more since. Will pay for a Christmas party.
