How much do you have to spend? Ideal starting wardrobe is 3 suits. Navy and a darker grey are the two most essential in my opinion, with either a light grey or a navy pinstripe as your third. Both.

You can spend as much or as little as you want on suits really, but you'll know the difference in quality. Better suits will last longer, hold their shape far better and usually fit your body better.

M&S is handy for 100-150ish business suits - I've never worn one, but they've plenty to choose from, and there can't be much wrong with them M&S are usually good enough for quality. TMLewins have two ranges, I think one is called the 'red label' which is a range of (slightly cheaper I think) business suits. I think they range about 200-300.

You can step up your spending again and go for bigger and better labels, but unless your starting job is bringing in really good money, there isn't much need just yet :)

You'll need a good few shirts, ties, belts, braces, shoes and cufflinks to go with all the above, but don't dive in straight away, see what you like, see what looks well on you and build up from there.

Aside from all this, I wouldn't really recommend looking at the cheapo suits in Topman and the like. They're not great quality and they're trying to keep with too many trends to work as a business suit.

M&S. Look no further. Buy two jackets, and two pairs of matching trousers for each. I've plenty of more expensive suits, but none stand up to the frequent daily bashing that M&S have done for me.

    Simples.

There are arguments for a fancy suit for the one off occasions it may be required, but based on trainee accountant people I know there's not much need.

Thanks for the suggestions, i have around 400 to spend. ill pop into M&S tomorrow so.

I have a Black suit already, is this a no no colour for an office?

Think ill just buy a Navy and charcoal/dark grey tomorrow.

Black tends to be for funerals and mafia wannabes..

A plain navy suit looks far smarter anyways :)

Don't forget about a good pair of shoes. Black oxfords. And learn how to keep them polished. A bad pair of shoes will ruin the most expensive of suits.
And learn to iron shirts properly. Lewins are doing a 4 for €140 deal. Go in and get measured and pick out 2 blues, perhaps a white and a striped.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

I did a good few grad interviews so far (girl by the way). I bought 2 suits, one for the lunches and one for the interviews which were the next day.

I wore a black suit, with a white blouse and a grey suit with a greyish/navy/white striped shirt.

Theres no need to buy more than 2. My friend (a guy) bought 1 and we both have offers so far.
