40 grain v-max for fox?

i bought a box of .223 hornady 40gr v-max to see how they performed in my supervarmint.
i was a bit worried that they might not do too good in the 1:8 twist barrel, but i was pleasantly surprised when they grouped a little over half an inch (6 shot group) at 100 yards, and around an inch at 200.
so can any one tell me what these are like for foxes.
i'm not going to be shooting any farther than 250 yards, so will they have energy to guarantee a clean kill, or should i stick to a slightly less flat shooting, but tighter grouping and harder hitting 55gr v-max round.
also on a side note the 40 grainers are almost €5 cheaper per box of 20 than the 55 grainers

Vixen and two cubs in one spot, another fox on the same land not far away at all, and John shot the last one very near as well. We saw 15 on that bit of land that night, and not a single one the next night we went there :pac:
