In my first year of college in the University of Limerick, studying Digital Media Design, don't have my own laptop and i'm looking to get a Macbook. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas as to the cheapest way to get one. As of right now I'm saving up for Macbook Pro at Apple education pricing, 1080 euro

Apple are not good for discounts. I got a MBP 4 years ago with the student discount.
When i opened the box i saw i got a refurbished unit, as there were scratches on the laptop.

I called, got it sent back , only have the replacemnt with a glossy screen, even though i ordered a matte screen.

I called to just cancel my order, and they gave me an additional 20% off along with the student discount.

That was an extreme case though and i doubt you will get much in the line of a discount from apple unless you get a rough time from them as i did.

Check out adverts.ie, plenty of macbooks on that, some at decent prices and in decent condition.

Have a look in the Refurb store, You get the same warranty http://store.apple.com/ie/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?mco=OTY2ODY3Nw
I've always bought from there. You got to be quick if you see a bargin. Don't hesitate.
