    Hi I was just looking for some advice, I have just been offered a graduate audit position wth PWC in Dublin, I also think I will be offered a position with Deloitte in the region. I was very impressed with PWC in their presentation but I would ideally wish to move down the country eventually. Where offer would I be best off to pick?

    Thanks

    Pug.

    Depends what you mean by down the country. I think PWC have more offices in different areas of Ireland if thats what you're getting at

    Well im from clare and have applied for Deloitte Limerick. Pwc in dublin appears really interesting and i wouldnt mind giving it a lash for a few years but id eventually like to get a job nearer to home!

    Worked in PwC Dublin for 4 years. Its not interesting and I don't think I've ever heard of anyone that has thought its interesting. If I were in your shoes I'd stick with Deloitte Limerick. Reasons;

    1) You'll get to know contacts in the region which will make getting a job after your qualified easier.
    2) You'll be working in a smaller office so you'll probably get to work in many different sectors.
    3) If you go to PwC you have the chance to be put into Funds which would make it difficult (not impossible) to get a job in industry outside Funds. Think there might be one funds company in limerick but do you want to work in funds? Also would have the chance of being put into Banking / Insurance sections which wouldn't have that many prospects in Limerick.
    4) Deloitte in Dublni from what I've heard anyways seem to treat their staff the best out of the big 4.
    5) I prefered living in Limerick than Dublin

    Thanks for the advice Johnny thats what I was thinking all along, cheaper accomadation, experience at auditing small companies rather than funds etc. I was just very impressed with pwc they seemed more professional .

    No hassle. At the end of the day its up to yourself. Though I wouldn't believe what any of them have to say in their presentations - you'd be better off talking to people who work in the offices. I don't know what Deloitte are like in Limerick but I did work in PwC in Dublin.

    Whatever you decide - good luck - its a long 3 / 3.5 years but qualification is probably worth it at the end of it

    I've heard a lot of people in PWC are sitting around doing nothing/studying as they aren't assigned to jobs outside of busy season. Don't hear that about the other Big 4. I haven't had much time where I haven't been on a job where I am, thankfully.
