Need a lift in someone's car on 4p.m. ferry to Holyhead!

    Hi all!
I really need to get to Holyhead tomorrow and was going to get either the 1.15 stena line from Dun Laoghaire or the 2.30 irish ferries from Dublin Port. However these are both cancelled and the only other alternative for me is the 4p.m. from Dublin Port. However this does not carry foot passengers. Is there anyone who is driving on to this ferry tomorrow who would let me hop in with them? I was speaking to the ferry companies who told me that I can just pay as an extra passenger then. Obviously I would pay this and I would also give the driver some money in appreciation.
Can anyone help me with this or how could I organise to get in with someone who is driving on???

    Thanks!

bus eireann run coaches to Manchester and London on at least one of these surely? May be able to book on to them and simply get off in Holyhead?

Thanks for that cookie monster and I checked it out but unfortunately bus eireann only go on the 8p.m. ferry tomorrow evening which is too late :-( I have to come back on a 9.30 ferry tomorrow night.

Can anyone help me? or know how I would get in contact with someone driving over on the 4 p.m. ferry!

Thanks, would really appreciate someone's help

Stick it up on the Dublin City forum also?
Aside from that just turning up and asking may be your best bet, though whether you'd be able to get into the holding area on foot is a bit dodgy I'd say.

I put it on the dublin city forum.
I don't think turning up will work as I think people in cars just drive straight on so it would be difficult to get approaching any of them :-(

AFAIK they dont run services on any of these commercial / freright runs, There is one later after 8pm that gets you into London the next day.

What about a flight to Liverpool and the train to Holyhead from there?

a Last minute flight anywhere would cost you an arm and a leg.

It all depends on how urgent the need is.

As it stands, it seems she has no options at all. While pricey, a flight will get her there.

Alternatively she could take the Norfolkline to Liverpool and get the train over.

If I was you I'd ring stena line to ask would that sailing still be no foot passengers. Previously they compensated foot passengers affected by dun laoghaire cancellations by accommodating them on what are no foot passenger sailings

once sailings are cancelled though they should allow foot passengers onto the freight runnings

I'm sure watching truckers pack it away in the restaurants is an entertainment in itself ;)

I was referring to the last line stating that alternative sailings were available
