How many hours labour would it require to put in two new shocks to the front wheels on a Honda Civic including damper's, bush's, tie rod?

Got a bill today and I'm abit shocked!

An hour each side maybe more for shocks and rods.
    Bushes, not sure.
    Maybe 4 total?

    How much was the bill?

I did it myself on 01 Fiat Bravo in about 1.5h
I'm not a mechanic, just an amateur.

I didn't change tie rods though, neither bushings?

To change tie rod,s it'would probably be an half an hour extra + setting the tracking after it.
I don't really know what bushing are you talking about.

That is shocking. Did you not get a price from them?

Im not quite sure what each of the things are but some of them appear to be just mounts which would be installed with the shock. Track rod in small job.

I wouldnt pay that unless you were getting alot of new suspension bushes around the front and even then its not something id like to be stuck with.

3.25h seems long for that job, but not unreasably long. Especially that we don't know exactly what kind of bushing are they...

I suppose 822 euro is price with parts.
How much for the labour itself?

For me seems to be dear, but on the other hand every job in the garage in Ireland seems to be dear for me - that's why I try to do most of the jobs myself :)

I know it seems a lot, but we need to see a breakdown, really. Even the 3.25 hours isn't mad: but what's the hourly rate ? You could easily meet one MF of a rusted/stubborn bolt and lose a 1/2 hour on a job like that.
    How much is VAT ?

And of course you think it's dear because of the relative value of the car. It it was an 06 car, the bill would be the same, and it mightn't irk so much. It's just life, is all......... :)

We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

1 No. END COMP. TIE ROD - 43.50 (even though one of these went in December 2009?)
    Wheel Aligment - 45
    3.25 hours labour - 70 per hour

    Total 724.58

    plus 13.50% vat 97.81

    Grand total 822.39

I was under the impression before I put in the car that the price was going to be about 400 euro for this work, but they neglected to tell me that the quote did not include labour! I was shocked when they handed me the invoice. In total my yearly service cost 1,175 euro, he took off the 75. (had to get new brake disc's)

I'm disgusted, it a main honda dealer, I bought the car three years ago off them, I didnt even get a cent off the price when I bought it (I asked). I've gone back to them for the service each year too.

I was going to buy an accord next time round.......they just lost that sale.

why do people take cars that are out of warranty to main dealers.. its pointless. any indy mechanic would have got you oem shocks at half that price!!!

There supposely the best ones 'honda' ones, they said you could get cheaper ones for around 70 euro, but they wouldnt last. So I followed there advice.

Sur they are making a tidy profit on them of course they will tell you that!! The 70yoyo shocks you buy in the motor factors are probaly made by the same crowd to the same standards as the 'honda' one except
they dont have the honda badge!
