Have been told that the Haldex Controller is gone in the car but its mad money to replace new. Just wondering if anyone has a secondhand one lying around ?? I have been told that alot of people upgrade these on their cars and may have the old one lying around.

    Any guidance would be great.

    Whats mad money?

Alot of people do change out the haldex controller for one that alters the front rear power split differently. I think this upgraded one may even be cheaper than a genuine one from Audi. Try TT forums as you will get many owners in the one place.

Edit: Upgraded controller is 675 sterling from TT shop.

You would surely get a used standard one though for only a little cash. Try uk breakers also

Is it definitely the controller? Was the dif serviced, lots of garages forget  to do this.

Check the ttforum in the UK, might get one there.

Interestingly when I went to dealer to buy the oil for the diff, they didnt have it. He ordered it and when picking it up, service manager enquired had I a leak:eek:.
He said they never change it... Yes this was a main audi dealer and it does list the diff oil and filter as a service item in the book.

Not sure if it has been serviced to be honest i only got the car 2 months ago, i have been told by two garages that it is gone and i need a new one. One of the garages has said it will be nearly €1000 supplied and fitted so thought a second hand might be alot cheaper than that.

Any web addresses for TT forums that anybody recommends ?

''technically'' the differential is sealed for life on 4motion cars, however the haldex needs the oil to be changed every 20k,VW/Audi recommend 40k but on gen 1 set ups i would do it every 20 and filter every 40.

Now VW/Audi say the diff oil is good for the life time of the car but that's nonsense on my old Bora i had the diff oil changed at 67k and it was filthy and in a poor state,i changed the haldex oil every 20k.

Most Irish dealers don't do or aren't aware that the haldex oil is a service item, and a pretty important one.

Haldex takes less than 1 litre of oil, comes in a silicone style tub to be used with a gun, where as the diff takes over 4 litres of oil.

    OP what are your symptoms?

Have you had the car scanned ? what are the faults showing up?

Is the car permanently in 2wd?

If it's a case that you do need a new controller then there are loads available second hand from the uk and states,be sure that's the problem first!

There is also a fuse for the haldex controller, don't know what number it is on the TT but it will be marked with one of those warning signs i.e main dealer only and is a 5 amp fuse, easy to find as there are not many marked like so that are 5 amp, worth a check.

Check the classifieds section of the following..

    www.R32oc.com
www.vwvortex.com (US forum and probably you're best bet search in the relevent TT classified section and also in the mk4 R32 parts section)
    www.vr6oc.com
    www.tt-forum.co.uk

Driving it in 2wd wouldn't be good for the haldex,i certainly wouldn't drive it hard, best of luck with your search.
