No fun when you're working there though. I used to work in Superquinn and 2 years ago they started the xmas music 10 weeks before,it was hell! I've since vowed to mute the tv everytime Slade comes on. 9 hours every day listening to it would drive you around the bend, even those who love xmas.

Can i just state firstly that i am not with Lord Lucan. I am currently at a swingers club with JFK and Pope John Paul II.

I worked in the Christmas section in Penneys O'Connell st in 1996 and we had 1 CD for 10 weeks on repeat:o

    OUCH!!:eek::eek:

It's great as a customer for the few minutes you're in the store but a day of it for 5 days every week is too much when you're working there.

Tell Marilyn to get herself over here pronto!;)

I disagree! I've worked in retail for years and I love the music, especially the last couple years when I worked in small shops and I was the manager so I got to choose the music!
It put me in a great mood and I got hardly any grumpy customers!

then again, I'm just a complete Christmas freak!!!:D

Yeah I never minded the Christmas CDs in work, when I worked in Homebase we listened to the same crap every day, one day someone snuck in a Robbie Williams CD and I was singing away, a customer commented on how happy I was , I just said 'first time in 4months they've changed the CD!! :D' haha
But the Christmas ones never bothered me :)

I love Christmas but this is just awful!

I work in a shop and I am dreading the day when they put that terrible Christmas CD on that plays on a loop several times a day for about a month.

You think its great being in Dunnes for say a half an hour, but think of the workers. They will be driven insane!

shame on you :D my first after school job was in Penny's (in the last century) and the christmas music was the only thing that brought me into work every day. it was on 24/7 and I LOVED IT. :D

I was just in dunnes literally ten minutes ago and heard a wee jingly music....I knew it was Christmas music so turned to the nearest person grabbed their arm and said "please tell me this isn't Christmas music"

It was and I actually could've killed someone...I've been waiting for it to start at my oen workplace (Heatons) which is usually ridiculously early but no Dunnes took the biscuit! I'm never going shopping again lol :p Working in retail ruins Christmas

This baffles me every year!Parents buying presents and asking you at the till to wrap them in loads of bags etc etc and put it behind the counter so the kids can't see. I always feel like I'm part of some low key mission to hide the presents from the kids :D

I always remember doing the shopping in Dunnes with my Mum and hearing Christmas songs when I was a kid - nowhere else, just always Dunnes :P One of those weird little childhood memories :)

People may not be able to get someone to mind kids I suppose but they make life so much harder on themselves by bringing the kids with them and it's frustrating trying to hide the gifts, wrap them and let the parents pay without the child noticing, especially when shop is busy and there's other anxious customers waiting...

I play either Christmas FM or my mp3 Christmas songs selection constantly at work, to make up for our lack of musak! :o
