    I'm having Sky installed tomorrow.

I have UPC phone and broadband.

Will I be able to use the red button?

    Thanks.

It depends on the functionality the Red Button provides. Sometimes it is just additional features that take a few moments to load (video, text, etc), sometimes it needs to dial home (ordering events). Those times you will need a phone line connected.

It's really only needed for ordering PPV movies etc.

It might not connect over UPC's phone system. If you use Blueface it's even less likely.

Other Red button features and Sky Firmware updates don't use phone line.

    Cheers guys,

All I'm concerned about is if I'm watching, for example, Wimbledon on BBC that I'll be able to use the red button to watch matches on outer courts and not be restricted to the show courts that they give BBC1/2 over to.

I couldn't care less about ordering PPV or anything like that. No interest.

    Thanks again.

That doesn't use the phone line.

Basically only things involving extra money use phone line.

If don't want Sky Sport, a Freesat HD+ box will do all you want including recording. No Subscription. Even same setup for Wimbledon
