Hi, have my test tomorrow, pretty unprepared for it, going over all the questions, watchin vid tutorials, learning rules and road etc today, and going on the test route for the 1st time later, so I've no real expectation. I've been driving alot on the learner permit for 10 months or so now and am completely comforatble driving, it's just bad habits that might hinder me I feel. :o

Just looking for last minute tips, advice, essential bits to cover from all the experienced heads here,

    Thanks.

Spend as much of the remaining daylight ( inc. tomorrow ) driving the routes, plural. Try to fix what you are told in your lesson. During the test: if you are making a mistake fix it, if you have made a mistake forget it.

just really make it obvious that you're looking in your mirrors.
i was told by someone to set them just a tiny bit off so that you actually have to move to see properly but i dunno if that would help or hinder you tbh!

leave a door space when overtaking a parked car!!
a friend failed cause of this (he thought a full door space would be way too much cause he'd be on the other side of the road but apparently not) and lack of mirror use- hence the first comment!

    best of luck!

Don't do this you just need to actually be checking your mirrors. This idea is just put forward by people who don't check their mirrors at the right time.

Good advice. If you can't keep a doors width without getting too close to oncomming traffic, then go slower or don't go into the narrow point.

    best of luck!
    Good Luck.

Just drive safely and calm, there is no rush and hopefully you don't get too nervous :)

Remember to take things nice and easy and keep going at a good pace. Make your mirror and blind spot checks very obvious.

    1. Keep your eyes looking well ahead for hazards
    2. Get your position right
    3. Adjust speed accordingly
    4. Select correct gear for the speed
    5. Smoothly accelerate away once you are past the hazard

Reaction to hazards seems to catch a lot of people out these days!

There's also a website available where you can get some last minute pre-exam driving tips along with video tutorials. You can google that.
I also recommend checking out Google Street View in case you are not familiar with some test routes areas or you just want a quick memory refresh on a certain stretch of road.

    Best of luck icon14.gif

Don't be telling yourself you're unprepared for it, sure you're setting yourself for a fail there. If you're driving (a lot) for 10 months and are comfortable doing it why wouldn't you pass ?

I'd suggest you likely have plenty of general driving experience at this stage. It might be worth practicing your reverse round corner (on the basis that we almost never actually do this move in real life - yes I know it tests ability to control a reverse accurately) and combine that with driving in the area where the test will take place.

Get your head into a place where you're going to pass though - if you walk in presuming you will fail you will almost certainly going to meet your own expectations.

    Good luck with it !

edit nb : drive for the whole test. Lots of people fail because they make a mistake and presume that it was a fataller when it was no such thing and then drive stupidly for the rest of the test. Also, one mistake can lead to four or five in quick succession and a fail. Never presume you've blown it, if you make a mistake of which you are aware do as you would ordinarily do on the road, and drive on. Keep the head and Don't give up.
