Excellent, a return to form after three rather weak episodes, an intersect-less Chuck  , bluff and double bluff....well done. So is Chuck's mom good or bad 'cause poor Chuck is getting fu*ked over by her again and again, why did she remove the intersect?

Eliie has the Mustang, intersect 3.0 on the way?...Chuck was on version 2.5 wasn't he after Matt Bomber upgraded him. Orion's lair up in smoke, i thought Timothy Dalton did a fine job, he had me fooled!...loved the fact he used his natural nothern accent, then the old switch-er-roo and he's Volkoff.

Very solid ep. and a nice return to form, will Sarah love Chuck more now as she did when he was intersect 1.0? :)

Excellent ep! Im not so sure she has completely removed the intersect, done something yes, but if it was to remove the intersect then why would his father not want him to have seen it, since he went to so much trouble to remove Chuck's intersect last season. Certainly has something to do with the tech in the mustang, she made sure to reference that and jog Ellie's memory.

I think she is working for Volkov directly in reality but cares for her family even more, but as Volkov said she is the master of deception so it's also quite possible she plans to destroy his organisation from the inside, very hard to judge really!

She could be using her family to take down Volkov and take over from him

Noticed that too :D I'm glad they've a decent actor playing Volkov - he had me completly fooled!

That was a brilliant episode. Best of the season perhaps?? As was said, Timothy Dalton, i think, fooled us all..

Getting a bit confused as to which side Mary is on though, double-double agent?

Ellie going to get the intersect? Ehh i dont know, I'd love if morgan got some moves...

I really liked that episode. Just when I thought this switching sides business was getting a bit tiresome, they give us, what I feel is at least, a definitive answer and also answer a number of other questions [Who is Volkov? etc.]

I liked the interactions between Chuck and Sarah about their fight and also liked the fact that Ellie is now getting more involved. I not only think the car is important, but the fact that Ellie used to 'sit in the middle' might be too.

Now all we need is more Morgan and Casey in the next episode.

Really enjoyed this episode, Timothy Dalton was truly excellent. He had some of the best lines as the bumbling Tuttle:

    "Cool, tiny weapon standoff!"

"I had my first sexual experience watching Lawrence of Arabia. I'm not proud of it. I came from a broken home."

and of course the Alias reference :).

As for mama-Bartowski, still not sure about her allegiance - I think it might be a case that she truly did betray the CIA, etc but still loves her children and wants to protect, thus why she helped Sarah break free.

This was a dramatic improvement on the first 6 episodes. Dalton was fantastic as both Tuttle and Volkov and I'm glad they made the nod to the Alias plot they're shamelessly ripping off (but please, no
    cloning or resurrection!
). I presumed whatever Mommy showed Chuck contained Orion's entire life's work so it's not been completely destroyed. Maybe he'll have to learn how to access it now though.

"let's do something fantastic!" haha what a good episode. Loved the Alias nod too!

The writers and actors are really hitting their stride in this show. Balanced really funny parts with genuine emotion. The scene with Ellie and her mother and Sarah was extraordinarily well done.

Wonder what they did to Chuck?

maybe its an enginnering intersect, so that chuck can rebuild orions life work,

it was a good episode, but i dont understand why volkov blew up orions place i mean its filled with some of the most advanced tech in the world, seemed a bit retarded really,

but it was a solid episode bar that, nice to see ellie becoming a part of the plot, i was half expecting a HUD interesct to activate when she turned the key, :D

i think this episode worked well because the buy more staff were missing, tbh i think leaving the buy more staff (sad to say including morgan) behind, they were fun but i think theyve run there course, i actually cant stand jeffster anymore, and big mike is just there for the sake of it really, morgan might actually be handy seeing as casey is training him up, but hes to much of a buffon to ever become a spy, baring him getting an intersect hes more or less useless, hes not even tech savey, so he cant even stay in the van,

its picking up but i think the 20+ episodes have made the writers take the long way round, unlike last season where they only had 13 eps so had a very progressive arc, and then another small one for the extra episodes added later,

So no-one else saw through Dalton's character?

I was thinking all the way through it was an act and he was going to switch into Bond mode at some point. Didn't twig he was Volkov though

He just wouldn't STFU about not being trained for it, was way too obvious.

First of all, wow! Chuck getting its very own board here? How'd that happen? ^-^

Second, stellar episode. I'll have to slightly disagree with the OP and say the previous 2 episodes were quite strong too, and it's the first 4 episodes of the season that were a bit weak (Suitcase being the strongest of the 4, imo).

I actually didn't see the Volkoff reveal coming either. When Dalton first got cast I was sure he was going to be Volkoff. Then details about the character came out (and another actor got cast for a few episodes) so I kind of set it aside. Then I stopped posting at speculation threads, and stopped thinking about it altogether. In fairness, Dalton did a good job with portraying Tuttle.

Actually the extra 11 were ordered pretty much after they had the 13th episode laid out. So, basically, it's going to be the same as last season, with it being split into two.

They seem to be doing things the same as they normally do, maybe even quicker. With a show like Chuck you can afford to spend 3/4 episodes dabbling in the overall arc and still deliver some good entertainment. They essentially got the ball rolling in episode 5/6 of this season, whereas in season 3 it took 11/12 episodes to get into it.
