TV3 v RTE - Champions League

    Faced with the choice of Tottenham Hotspur (4 points in a group that is wide open) hosting Inter Milan (reverse tie a 7 goal thriller) or the very potentially dull dead rubber that is Bursaspor versus Manchester United (9 points and needing 1 more to qualify with 2 games left), TV3 have gone down the "bums-on-seats-and-ignore-entertainment" route and will be showing the latter game.
    RTE had a choice of Chelsea v Spartak Moscow or Shaktar Donetsk v Arsenal but instead have actually shown some cojones and gone with the fantastic tie AC Milan v Real Madrid. AC Milan really need to win and this has all the trappings of being a superb game of football, with, I suppose the side order of Dunphy getting to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo!

    You know two weeks ago when RTE had the choice of a potentially dull Man Utd v Bursaspor or the much more exciting Inter v Spurs game, they also went for Man Utd?

    It is definitely good to see RTE pick the Milan v Madrid game tomorrow but the fact remains that if Man Utd were playing Bursaspor they would have shown that instead. The reason being that Man Utd and Liverpool have more support here than any other clubs and their matches will be shown no matter what. There are of course plenty of Arsenal and even Chelsea fans here too but not anywhere the amount who support Man Utd or Liverpool.

    Although I do believe that if the roles were reversed, TV3 would have shown one of the games with an English team tomorrow so RTE do deserve some credit.

    TV3 are only showing united because of that prick they have as a commentator is a united supporter.

    I hear he is the main guy in the sports department at TV3

    I fukin hate Matt Cooper so i wont be watchin 3. He should just stick with depressing people on their journey home and leave the sport to someone interesting.
