agree, i've been saying this for a while, they came here last year with a squad of players mostly under the age of 25, blooded them, by WC they'll have plenty of experience on board.

I'll be sticking with the All Blacks thank you. Just because Donald gifted them the Hong Kong game don't lets lose the run of ourselves. The Aussie scrum still looks weak, Giteau has left his kicking boots at home, Quade Cooper blows hot and cold and Rocky Elsom is not really cut out for the captaincy. :D

Well you're in a minority of one there. Donald missed an easy penalty and then hoofed the ball back to the Aussies in the dying moments of the game when he should have put the ball into the stand. Did you watch the game? :D

I did, and Australia scored plenty of points before Donald got near the field.

How you can blame him for the kick when Aus hung onto the ball for phase after phase for about 4 minutes - it's completely daft. The better team won.

Yes I did watch the game. Have commented on it already in the match thread.
If you think Stephen Donald was the reason that the Wallabies won that game, I'd ask you the same question.
Did Stephen Jones win Ireland the Grand Slam?

Yes. Jones missing the penalty and Donald hoofing the ball back downfield were pretty much the same. In Jones' case his kick fell short and presumably he had given it his best shot but in Donald's case his kick was a surprising error of judgement and had he kicked it out of play chances were that the ABs would have won. It's not sour grapes with me as a winning streak can't go on forever but it was the manner of the defeat that was hard to take.

Friend of mine put €50 on Ireland about 18 months ago. Got odds of 66/1. Would be some windfall :)

    some windfall alright
heres hoping john hayes, wally, drico, darce and the rest of the old timers can make it there..

NZ or australia would beat ireland by no less than 30 points right now - any time, any place

all depends on what type of rugby is played at the next world cup. i know the rules are different now but when the stakes get raised people just love kicking the leather off it. if we get a repeat of 2007 neither aus or nz will win it. they both seem to have no inclination for drop goals either currently and historically.

Is that with a fist?:) BTW I don't think Australia would beat Ireland by 30 points. Let's see the scores from Saturday's respective games to get a clearer picture.

It's not a bad thing to do if you would love to go to some tournament, but couldn't afford it. A mate of mine put 200 quid on at 201/ for the Irish soccer team to qualify for the world cup, so if they won, it would cover a major chunk of the money to go to the tournament. They didn't qualify, but the theory made sense.

50 quid at 66/1 would cover the Lions tour in 2013. Extremely unlikely obviously - 66-1 is probably a bit tight...

australia will need to sort out a few things if they're going to win the world cup, their scrum for a start. Maybe it will be better as alexander gets back into the swing of things, but it has been poor throughout the 3N and awful on saturday.

they don't have as many world class ball-carriers in the forwards as they need, throughout the 3nations their forwards were struggling to get over the gain line. their backs are class but they will need go-forward ball. their defence also needs tightening up, it didnt take NZ or SA much effort to break it down on saturday or throughout the 3N.

they need to sort out their goal kicking - key for cup rugby, could o'connor be the answer to this? gits, cooper and beale have all had low success percentages recently (by international standards).

Cooper is a very exciting player but a bit inconsistent for my liking, i get the feeling that if things started going badly in a cup match situation he could go missing.
