Buying iTouch in the U.S - Any Probs

Will an iTouch bought in the States work here with no probs..apps etc.

Got mine in Mall of America, Minneapolis last week, 8gb for $229.00 plus tax $246.00.

My unit has a fault with the camera shutter but Apple are repairing/replacing same and I will have a replacemen within 5 working days and UPS are collecting from my house tomorrow.

Good Customer Support it would seem.

No problem with Apps etc.

sure they're all made in China on the same factory floor, only difference you'll get in your packaging is the wall-mount charger !

iPods are worldwide warranty AFAIR. You can check on the Apple support site, it gives the warranties for all their products.

Yes, it will - pretty much all Apple products have a worldwide warranty, doesn't matter where the product was bought. I believe the only exception to this used to be the iPhone, but they've recently changed it to be in line with everything else, so now it does not matter where it was bought in the first place.

Not that simple, I don't think. Desktop products don't have worldwide warranty, only portables. The iPad was only covered in the country of purchase according to their warranty, and I didn't hear that they had changed that with the iPhone change. It would make sense that they would have changed it with the iPhone, but Apple can be a strange beast.

You don't get a mains charger with the iTouch so there are no voltage or plug issues. Mine (2G 32GB) was bought in Canada and I've had no issues.

You cannot compare the support. Apple is miles ahead of Sony in that regard, and almost all their products include worldwide warranty, including all Macs and iPods.

They changed that abou ~8 years ago, all Macs now have worldwide warranty as well.

Seeing as I was working there up till about 5 years ago, and they hadn't changed it by then, I went digging:

"If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide. However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested."

Apple Warranty
Even the iPad still states you MAY be requested to have it serviced in the country of purchase.
