Any Sniping in Airsoft tips?

Hey, I'm looking to start a bit o sniping in airsoft, I've been more of an assault, charge recklessly player lately, so though I might try it out for a while.
1st off, the rifle. Is there any ones that would be better than others? I know I could just stick the scope on the aeg but I'd rather use a spring rifle. I was looking at something like the SSG or L96 just to get started.any advice?
2nd, the skills. By this I can refer to many experienced players who seem to just love being a ****ing ghost or invisible yoke just shooting me constantly from seemigly everywhere:rolleyes:;)! Is there anyway of learning the correct way to sneak, get good positions etc etc, by myself or would I be better off sticking with an other sniper for a while and 'taking notes'?
    3RD
And lastly, is it worth it? I've heard of people sniping and having great games, holding objectives, getting good kills and generaly having fun. BUT,I've also heard of shots being sent awry by the slightest wind and of players not feeling sniper hits. Whats your own experience?
Any advice you can give is great help so Thanks a million!:D:D

I'm the last person to give advice as I always start off with a plan but it goes wrong.and fast.
But I was told that you should hide in places that the opposition wouldn't expect.
Always have an escape route (I can't escape very well ><)
Don't jump into it whatever you do.
    Ask other hardcore snipers advice.
Read up on it on the net.By the looks of it you already did
True it's great craic watching some guy in your sights before you pull the trigger.Equally true that you'd nearly fall asleep from sheer bordom waiting for a shot that won't come (or so I hear)
    Hope that helps

is a great set of posts on boards.ie by Firekitten. It covers everything you need to know about sniping. I can't search for the link now, but if you do a search for threads started by her you will find them.

    Enjoy

Have a look for the stickied threads that FireKitten made - some seriously good information in them.

If you're interested in sniping, my advice is always to try out the playing style using your A-typical AEG. Hide, pick your targets, squeeze trigger, and move. You'll have to move more with an AEG due to the noise emitted from the gearbox, but you'll still get a good solid taste for the gameplay, and have a much more informed opinion as to whether or not to buy a bolt-action rifle.

i would suggest if you know anybody who snipes, offer to play alongside them as their spotter and you will soon pick up the basics and then make an informed decision,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Well As it's already been mentioned, i don't feel too supercilious in posting you the link for the aforementioned articles On Pudding's website.

    Sniper Serial

There's some basics in there for you to have a read of before trying, it gives a rounded simple outline, somewhat Blue Peterish, just with less sticky back plastic and washing up liquid bottles.

    Hope it helps :)

Thanks a million for the help everyone, that guide from firekitten was particularly helpful!
I think i'm going for a ssg,l96 or Kar 98 rifle(hoping for the Kar:)) to get started. My mate's said he'll let me use his sniper for a day or two to get the stealth, 'bushcraft' and sneaking right and he'll help me with zeroing in the rifle.
    Again, thanks a million!!!
