Two things:

The pheasant is an eco warrior seen as how he tried a lying down protest against the farmers use of ATVs
Some night the farmer will wake up to a tapping on his window and there'll be the pheasant looking in at him.

Sleep with one eye open.

We released a load of birds there last March, one of the local farmers reported a pheasant running up and down the field after his tractor. Probably used to being fed from the back of a tractor on some estate in the UK.
